It seems that I am turning on Tara Strong, who I have admired for many years and have sympathised with in her times of crisis like the recent wildfires. This is not the case. I still care about her. But during inauguration festivites for Donald Trump, Elon Musk did what appeared to be a Nazi salute. Europe saw it that way. Many anti Trumpers saw it that way. Tara Dublin saw it that way. Grey DeLisle saw it that way. Many of Tara’s fans and friends saw it that way. I saw it that way. But if Tara saw it that way, she’s been silent about it. I mean if ANYONE should have been offended by what Elon did, it would be Tara Strong.
Now if you follow Tara on Instagram you have seen her Instagram stories. And in many of her stories she is known to call out acts of antisemitism (which I very much support if it’s legit antisemitism). But nothing on Elon and his “Nazi salute”. I am not angry about her for this silence just disappointed. That is all.
You may ask “Why not EG Daily? She’s Jewish and she hasn’t said shit about Elon”. If EG Daily spent her IG stories attacking antisemitism even half as much as Tara does, I would be calling her out on that too. Even at the risk of destroying my (admittely very slim) chances at a romantic relationship with her. If I HAD been in a romantic relationship with EG, she would have been outspoken out about this. AND she would have been vocal about supporting Kamala Harris in the recent election. But I digress.
And yes Tara and EG have an anti Trump video from about 2019 attacking Trump on YouTube that is still up. They may be fearful of retaliation for that video. If they get jailed for that video I know a bunch of people (myself included) who will do anything within legal means1 to free the both of them. I would like to address two of those people, both of whom are far better friends of Tara and have known her far longer than I have.
Sari Beth Rosenberg: I know you think there should be things about the Trump administration that we should be paying more attention to than Elon’s salute and I am not here to argue that. But I believe you are of the Jewish faith and you must have been offended by Elon. And I know you are still close to Tara despite her public neutrality in the last election ( I want to thank you for your support of Harris).2 I mean you must have Tara on your speed dial so you should have said something to her about her silence. Or maybe someone who lives closer to Tara should have taken the lead with this like…
Grey DeLisle: You have known and been friends with Tara Strong since she was Tara Charendoff. Maybe you attended her (ill-fated) wedding3. I KNOW you were offended by Elon’s actions. And your hatred of Elon is not partly motivated by lack of wealth as mine is (why there are guys whose wealth is similar to mine ADORE Elon or for that matter Trump is beyond me). Some times being a good friend is gently calling that friend out when s/he is silent about things that should outrage that person. That is why I want to talk to you about your silence regarding Tara. If your friendship ends, maybe it wasn’t meant to be. But I doubt it will.
I mean, come on Tara. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck… And before you mention the fact that Elon’s on the autism spectrum: hey I am on the spectrum also and I don’t do shit like that. Maybe because I was taught boundaries.
